Fredericktown Nutrition Center
Our Mission
To provide a place where people of our community can socialize and
receive a well-balanced nutritional meal. Fellowship and
socialization that participants experience is a very important part
of daily existence.
We also provide nutritional services to the home bound seniors of
the community with three (3) routes in Madison county.
The Center welcomes all to participate in its programs and
activities.
Meal Service Monday through Friday from 11:00 to 12:30.
Who We Serve
Home bound-
Those who receive home delivered meals must meet certain guidelines
set down by the State.
Our Administrator can explain these rules in person or over the
phone. One example would be that home bound meal recipients should
be "bound to their homes" with little or no way to come to the center to
eat their main meal.
We serve around 85 home bound meal and only 35 are Medicaid meal
and we only get
reimbursed for part of Medicaid meals.
The rest is at a loss if the homebound decide not to pay. We do ask for
a $5.00 contribution.
Congregate -
Our dining room opens at 8:00 am, and we start serving meals from
11:00 am to 12:30 pm Monday - Friday
Anyone can visit and eat a meal, but because we are a "Senior" center, anyone
6 to 12 is $5.00,
13 to 59 is $7.00 .
Those over 60 are asked for a $5.00 donation per meal.
If you are in town visiting, or reside in the area we invite you to
come to the Center and have a great meal with us.
What We Do
Our Cooks prepare approximately 180 meals each day.
Our volunteers and staff deliver up to 80 to 100 of those meals each day.
We find solutions to problems and answers to question. If we don't know... we'll find someone who does.
We provide informational programs and clinics for the public.
We try to find activities that will challenge the mind and body of seniors.
We give seniors a comfortable place to socialize.
We do our best to meet the needs of our clients and guests.

How do we do it
Volunteers -
Besides our staff, our volunteers are our greatest asset by far.
They are "how we do it"! Our home delivered meals are delivered by volunteers.
Our reception desk is manned by volunteers.
Our meals are served by volunteers.
As you can see, we need, respect, and appreciate our volunteers.
If you are interested in volunteering, please call 573-783-5357 for more information or stop in and ask how you can help.
Funding -
Since we are a non-profit organization, we depend on several different
resources:
One source for funding, information is the Southeast Missouri Area on Aging.
They keep us on track with all the rules and regulations necessary to receive funding from the State.
The Dietitian makes sure we are delivering a healthy, balanced
meal that meets the State requirements.
Besides these services, they also have employees that specialize in Medicare Prescription Drug Plans and numerous programs of interest to seniors.
* Fundraisers, Donations and Memorial Gifts -
Just like other non-profit organizations, a great deal of our
extracurricular activities are funded from donations, gifts, and support from our various fundraising activities.
Most people donate to our Center because we have touched their life, or someone close to them, and they want to make sure we
continue the giving.
* Grants -
The grant allows us to purchase larger items that might otherwise take years to obtain.
Grants come in different sizes, but most are obtained in the same way...you must apply. Although grant writing can take a lot of time and needs some experience.
